outside the box banking and financial tips

Being thrown into such volatile uncertainty many are looking for quick tips to stay calm and composed financially and continuing to make sound decisions and protect our investment and wealth. Many young people may be worried about their future employment. Here are my tips based on personal experience of decades in the international banking and finance world.

1. See the big picture.
2. Read history.
3. Do not listen to the crowd. Do your own research.
4. Focus on macro-economics.
5. Work on medium and longer term.
6. In today’s scenario see the whole world and not just one particular segment of a continent.
7. Find the best practice elsewhere, not from within your usual paradigm. Success stories of great people or businesses can help.
8. Know that the nation is fixed within its boundary and an individual is borderless. This means you can easily get jobs and employment in the virtual world round the globe. The prospect is even better for you provided you study hard, work hard and smart like the hardworking and smart people of the rest of the globe. What does the border do? It helps the other folks (those who are not technology-know in your nation) to survive securely and descently. They get better paid and more prospects for total wellness too if you (as one nation) guard your physical boundary and maintain sovereignty over your nation. You need those other faithful solid nationalistic folks who will stay and guard and sustain the country while you are away roaming the globe, making your fortune. They need you to bring back your spoils. The need is mutual.
9. Why do you need to care about your fellow country men? Read your history and you will know greatness does not come from one individual or even a group of individuals. It is a totality of a nation of many individuals who stand together for their unique national identity. The corporate loyalty to a nation makes a nation great.
10. Read your war history and your financial and economic history. Read the history of your religion. Read about your nation. The knowledge of your own country through the thousands of years will calm you down and you can then get on with business for the future.
Be mobile as an enterprising individual. Be loyal as a national. You need to come back to your home base from time to time. You need your motherland to shelter you when in war (both physical and spiritual).
11. One last tip: be a constantly learning person in depth, width, depth and height. Knowledge and wisdom have no boundary. This is the essential key.

a banking finance nerd’s first blog

at the car museum

After years of corporate banking and finance experience, I have become a nerd in technology. Writing is still my first love and I opted out of the fast track early and continued to freelance at my own pace and choice of specialty. It has been a fruitful and abundant life.
Why this new blog? I believe it is time to do something using the rather unusual and unique combination of being a banking-finance professional and a professional-writing-nerd.
My motto: Sowing on many waters and reaping many harvests.
Why the tag line “Sleuth and Humor”? You can guess. _____________ (fill in the blank)
